The LYNX-T1 hot wire foam cutting plotter is a computer-controlled device (CNC) used to cut shapes in foams like styro-foam, Styrodur, XPS, EPP and many other expanded and extruded foams. The hot wire moves in the X and Y axes thanks to microcontroller and the steerage software. LYNX-T1 foam cutting plotter can be used for a wide variety of cutting applications. They can cut out virtually any shape. Such kind of device allows for cutting of large variety of 3D shapes like letters, logos and so on. User imagination is only the limit.
The high class specialized aluminium profiles, precise movement mechanisms based on ball-bearings and microprocessor control of movement provide long lasting and error-free machine work.
The cutting area is 1200x600 mm (standard foam sheet). Hot wire length is 300 mm (table width).
Cutting speeds depends of kind and thickness of the cutting material. Starts from 10 up to 3000 mm/min. The cutting wire is constantly tensioned during the cutting process. Tensioning element cooperates with end-switch and steerage software, so device stopps if the wire is break off during the cutting process. User can easly replace cutting wire and continue cutting process.
The steerage software based on USB port of standard PC computer. LYNX-T1 device comes with two types of software. For designing eduCAD 2.7 TERM vector based drawing software used for importing and drawing any letters and shapes. For the control TAPPER LIGHT steerage software for the wire cutting device.
For the extend of capabilities of LYNX-T1 device we designed also the option called turn-axis. This extra device works like lathe. Its used for cutting identical outlines of the same project which results in 3D shapes. Turn-axis makes possible to cut i.e. spheres, column, baluster and so on.

What is worth CNC machine without the proper software? - not much. That's why we develop and add set of designing and steering software with all our machines.
eduCAD vector CAD graphics program is a software for making the drawings and preparing them to cut with hot wire plotter. Because it is a graphical program creating graphics in vector format
our clients are not dependent on having another type of graphics program, like: CorelDraw, AutoCAD or Illustrator.
Main purpose of eduCAD 2.x TERM program is the making (or importing) drawings and converting them into form understood by the CNC (computer controlled) machines.
Undoubted advantage of this program is to ease the creation process of any figure or shape.
eduCAD has very clear and user-friendly interface, very close to the famous market of vector programs like CorelDraw, Illustrator.
Thanks to this working with the programm is very intuitive. Along with our hot wire cutting plotters we offer the most recent and constantly updated version of the software (now designated 2.7 CNC),
with the import of PLT files (HPGL) and DXF option. The program has the converter from drawings in HPGL (PLT) format into the g-code generation for numerically controlled machines (CNC).
In eduCAD version 2.7 we prepared a special feature (unique for the hot wired - thermal - plotters) the ability of merging several objects into a single object, so that it becomes an "single-string-drawing" object.

TAPPER LIGHT - software that controls the hot wire cutting plotter
Another important program is the software that controls the plotter work - a program called TAPPER LIGHT.
This program is designed to prepare g-codes for a steerage device (driver), sending them into this device and to operate the plotter.
The steerage signals are generated by RICS microprocessor ARM 7 (32-bit) with 4MB memery buffer inside the driver and processed by the
movement of each axis motor controllers in appropriate frequency and synchronization. TAPPER LIGHT program is designed for computer controled 3-axis CNC machines
(in this case, hot wire cutting plotter). The conncection between the PC and the steerage device is realized by USB port.
The program interprets commands for 3 axis (XYZ). XY axes are for the movement, and Z axis is for rotation optional attachment (lathe).
